A great house for the God whom no house can contain
Solomon prepares for the temple with international cooperation, skilled craftsmanship and a vast labour force. Yet he states clearly that the building cannot contain God. The temple is for God’s Name and appointed worship, not a structure that confines Him.

Solomon says even the heaven of heavens cannot contain God. (2 Chronicles 2:6).

Resident foreigners are assigned heavy work; the text does not provide enough detail to reconstruct every social condition.
