Innocent blood, faithful intercession and God’s power to restrain persecution
Saul’s hostility becomes an open command to kill David. Jonathan intercedes, Michal helps David escape, David prays in the setting reflected in Psalm 59, and at Naioth even Saul is rendered powerless to complete his purpose.
1. Speak up when innocent life is threatened
Jonathan warns David and then reasons directly with Saul. (1 Samuel 19:1-5).

Jonathan reminds Saul of David’s innocence, loyal service and the salvation God wrought through him.

Saul has soldiers, authority and obsession; David still survives.
