MY FATHER, in his lyrical Irish brogue, ends many conversations with a gra­cious, “God bless.” I sometimes finish a letter or an e-mail with one simple, all encompassing, religious yet inoffensive word, “blessings.” Many people, Christians and non-Christians alike, invoke God’s blessing after someone sneezes—“God bless you.” Moreover, politicians often close important po­litical speeches with the benediction, “God bless you. God bless the United States of America.”

I USED TO CHEAT IN ALGEBRA. Math has always been difficult for me. So when I was assigned to the honors algebra class, which was very much over my head, I adjusted this discrepancy by “borrowing” some answers from the best mathematician in the school and a fellow starter on the varsity basketball team.

WHEN MY WIFE AND I lived in Hyde Park in Chicago, near the University of Chicago, a chemistry professor was part of our congregation. Every Sunday night he and his wife would invite college students and other young adults over for a nice informal dinner. When you walked through their front door there was a small, decorative sign that had one simple word written in large block letters: REPENT.

Colonialism is the policy of a nation seeking to extend or retain its authority over other people or territories, generally with the aim of economic dominance. The colonising country seeks to benefit from the colonised country or land mass. In the process, colonisers impose their religion, economics, and medicinal practices on the natives. Colonialism is the relationship of domination of indigenous by foreign invaders where the latter rule in pursuit of their interests.

Where ever there are people there will be disagreement. Everyone has there opinion, and sadly disputes can become very heated very quickly. We only have to consider Cain and Abel to realize how bad things can go, and how very quickly.

John 14:2

"In my father's house are many mansions . . . "

 

Problem:

The "many mansions" are understood to refer to a dwelling place in heaven where the righteous depart at death.
